Henry Kikoyo is a Partner in the Bankruptcy and Litigation department of Brown Rudnick LLP and spearheads its Africa restructuring practice. He practices in the areas of debt and corporate restructuring/turnaround, corporate refinancing and debt trading acting for bank and non-bank lenders, Development Finance Institutions, bondholders, distressed investors, Governments, State Owned Entities and private/public companies.
Henry has a particular focus on restructuring/turnaround in emerging markets, in particular Africa and Eastern Europe. He is a leading advisor in relation to the restructuring of airlines. He also advises in relation to distressed businesses or investments in financial services (banks), manufacturing, Agriculture, power projects, infrastructure, oil & gas and also in respect of sovereign debt resolution. As part of his restructuring practice, Henry also advises in relation to alternative financing solutions including secondary capital raising and non-bank lending, and aircraft operating leases in the case of airline clients.
Henry has significant experience in complex cross-border restructuring transactions and has been involved in major transactions in Europe, North & South America, Australia and Africa.
Henry also maintains a debt trading practice representing investors in the secondary debt market in relation to the acquisition and disposition of debt including bank loans, trade claims and financial claims.
Henry brings to his practice practical business insights having previously worked as a project manager in relation to the development of a 250 MW hydro-power project in East Africa.
He is admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales and also trained as a Ugandan lawyer.
